Who run the world? Girls! To celebrate Women’s History Month, Independence Business Alliance aka IBA (Greater Philadelphia’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce) will be hosting their third annual Women in Business Panel Discussion entitled Leading Through Following – How Mentorship Shaped My Career on Tuesday, March 28th at the National Liberty Museum from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Hosted by IBA’s Women in Business (WiB) group and sponsored by National Liberty Museum, this dynamic panel will explore the best practices for fostering productive mentor/mentee relationships, learn how to leverage mentorship to advance goals at every stage of your career, and examine ways to shift work dynamics to prioritize collaboration over competition amongst professional women.

The panel is full of powerful and inspiring women, including:

  • Graciela Slesaansky-Poe, Ph.D: Professor and the former Founding Dean of the School of Education at Arcadia University. Her teaching, research, and service are focused on diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice and the role that education, self-knowledge and self-renewal could play to foster these values.
  • Mary Catherine Roper: Deputy Legal Director at the ACLU of Pennsylvania, where she coordinates litigation on a broad range of civil liberties issues, including freedom of speech, religious liberty, racial and ethnic justice, equality for lesbians and gay men, student rights, privacy, prisoners’ rights, and police misconduct.
  • Laura Jennings: Physician Assistant in Urologic Oncology at Penn Medicine and LGBT advocacy through the Human Rights Campaign, Penn Center for LGBT Health and numerous local organizations.
  • Dense James: Director of Strategic Communications at Philadelphia Police Department and Principal Coach/Executive Producer of Denise James Media.
  • Moderator – Natalie Rojas: As Director of Supplier Diversity at the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Natalie supports LGBT-owned businesses in utilizing LGBT Business Enterprise certification and leveraging it to their individual goals to grow.

Male-identified attendees are welcome and encouraged to attend. Outside of the dynamic panel, attendees will also be able to sip beverages, snack on appetizers and network with other LGBTQ professionals. Tickets are $30 for IBA members, $50 for non-IBA members and $15 for students.
