GALLOP (Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia)

GALLOP (Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia) was formed in 1986 as the Philadelphia Attorneys for Human Rights (PAHR), an organization of gay and lesbian legal professionals serving the Philadelphia metropolitan area. GALLOP's purpose is to advocate for and promote the civil and human rights of gay men and lesbians; to improve access to gay and lesbian attorneys; and to improve and enhance business opportunities, advancement and employment of gay and lesbian attorneys.

Greater Philadelphia Professional Network (GPPN)

GPPN is an acronym for the Greater Philadelphia Professional Network. Our members reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware and represent a diverse array of industries and professional experiences.

How did GPPN get started?
In March of 1993, Scott Laughlin, a 29-year-old account executive at Boston Coach, spearheaded efforts to start a gay professional association with then Assistant Deputy Mayor John Herzins. Nine months later, the organization had over 120 members.

GPPN has since doubled in size and has hosted events throughout the city, including one at The Prime Rib with Temple University President David Adamany and another at City Hall for gay and lesbian members of city government.

What is GPPN's mission?
GPPN's mission is to provide a social, career and business development channel for the gay and lesbian professional community.

What does GPPN do?
For 10 years, GPPN has sponsored regular networking events, speakers, workshops, summertime fun, and a newsletter serving the region's gay professional community.

Each month, our networking events attract between 40 and 100 professionals to some of the region's hottest restaurants.

Independence Business Alliance

The Independence Business Alliance (IBA) is the new Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Philadelphia region. The IBA serves the LGBT and business communities of:

* Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania;
* Mercer, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties in New Jersey;
* and, New Castle County in Delaware.

The Independence Business Alliance is a membership-based business advocacy organization dedicated to making the Philadelphia region an influential and diverse LGBT business community with an impact on economic development, equal rights and policy issues. The IBA is an official affiliate of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).
