Philip Dawkins’s play The Homosexuals makes its Philadelphia premiere at this year’s GayFest. The comedy, playing August 10 through the 24 at the Skinner Studio at Plays and Players Theatre, explores gay friendships and relationships in the 21st century and was called “ambitious, substantial, and deeply impressive” by the Chicago Tribune.
The Homosexuals, which is directed by Sarah Gafgen, features a wide spectrum of regional actors, including Zachary Chiero, Christopher Melohn, Sebastian Cummings, Frank Schierloh, Katherine Perry, Shamus Hunter McCarty, and Dexter Anderson.
According to the play’s producers, “New to the big city, Evan is invited to a party by a near stranger, and meets a circle of friends who will change his life. Told in reverse order, from 2010 to 2000, this very funny and touching play examines the fears, doubts and hopes faced by gay men in the first decade of the 21st century.”
The Homosexuals features sets designed by Dave Sanford, lighting by Amanda Jensen, and costumes by John Hodges.
Plays and Players Theatre is located at 1714 Delancey Street in Philadelphia. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please visit www.quinceproductions.com or call 215-627-1088.
