What to Wear: Jocks Vs Nerds Ball

Executive Director of PhillyGayCalendar

So I hear you're attending Saturdays Jocks Vs Nerds Ball! Don't tell anyone I told you, but I hear there may be a few princesses in the room too! No matter the disposition were here as always to answer your style needs.

So picture yourself at 19…??? Careful!! Well…whenever YOU were in High school, picture it! The most segregated room in the world, known simply as the cafeteria, where Jonnie Jock wooed cheerleaders while Danny Dork lead the chess team to a snickering victory; ahh those were the days! You remember!

Everyone had a label, everyone a place to sit, everyone a role to play! Well we're back and hotter than we ever were before. This time when the bell rings at 9pm we're meeting at Tabu Lounge and Sports Club on 12th street!

Don't be afraid if you feel you have lived under a rock for the last few years and can't exactly remember what it means to embrace your inner nerd. Geek is chic! Bowties and suspenders high-water twills and tweeds have infiltrated the market. So pull out your suspenders, your university ties and perfectly tailored pants. Add a penny to your loafer or a dime if you're really on time. Part your hair if you dare, and put on glasses that make it hard NOT to stare!

For you left over Jocks "so…. Last season" I'm looking forward to seeing you there too! Over sized hoodies atop short running shorts, baseball caps with your favorite sports label worn proudly curled at the bridge, a letterman's Jacket; now you're talking! Kick it up a notch with a tennis racket, soccer ball or track suit, and you may just make varsity this year.

Whatever you do, be there or be square! With $6 Absolute drink specials, Entry is $8 properly attired (see above) and $10 without any gear.

Proceeds from the big bash benefit Jocks – the Stonewall Sports League. DJ Carl Michaels as always will mix the hottest playlist in town with surprise pop up performances mixed in! So call on your nerd, embrace your jock, be the princess within, and dance the night away with student council President Ian Morrison, and the Captain of the team Justin Nordell.

Until next time, Yours!
