Every once and and while I blindly choose a Fringe show and just "take a chance" on it.  Hot Damn, I am so glad I gave "HOME" by Geoff Sobelle a try.  This  World Premiere tells The story of a HOME, literally a house. The play revolves around  the lifecycle of a house. And the many dreams of home cast upon it.

I'll be honest, the title leaves a lot up to interpretation, but on stage, a house appears. It goes up with the speed of time-lapse photography. Residents move in, move out, get evicted, burn it down, loot it, rent it, remodel it, get married and divorced in it, grow up in it, die in it, haunt it—and all the while, they leave and live among traces of residents present, past, and future. This large-scale performance mixes illusion, choreography, live music, construction, homespun engineering, and live documentary to create the messiness of life that transforms a house into a home.

From the creator of The Object Lesson is a performance both virtuosic in its theatricality yet startlingly down-to-earth in the lifelike world it creates around its audience. HOME is a glorious meditation on the transitory nature of dwelling, the constraints of time and money, the impossible structural demands of a house, the absurdity—and at times the impossibility—of making a home.

The show used no dialogue and was still able to deliver a powerful message that used multiple storylines that worked together cohesively.  The strongest part of the production in my opinion was the illusion of the home. It was brilliantly executed, There was nothing he didn’t think about to make the production feel real!

What made the show special for me, was throughout the show, I felt as tho I were apart of this family.  I felt the love, joy, sadness and everything in between.  In total transparency the show felt a bit long to me, but I don’t feel as if I wasted my time.  This is a fringe show I would recommend to all of my friends and family looking for theatre that evokes emotion.
