Parrot

A new short film inspired by true events called Parrot just released its trailer. It’s about a drag queen [played by Philly’s own Brittany Lynn] who protects a child during a crisis as prejudices reach a breaking point.

They base the story around Drag Story Time, an event that Brittany Lyn knows well, as she reads to local Philadelphia children regularly. Soon a crowd of angry protesters goes too far, and our large wigged hero must protect a young boy from fear, hate and harm.

Directing this film was one of my proudest moments as a filmmaker but it’s also made me realize more than ever that a film is only as good as the people involved. This team was incredible and we couldn’t have pulled this off without each and every single person. This was the first film I directed in which I didn’t also write and I couldn’t have been more honored that my friend Joseph Guice asked me (let alone trust me) to direct his script. Of course not to mention the performances done by our cast Brittany Lynn [Ian Morrison], Wesley Holloway and Steve Cavanaugh.
