Stina Partners with Chef Widjojo to Help Attic Youth Center

Executive Director of PhillyGayCalendar

Stina BYO, Philly’s restaurant with a social mission, will continue their monthly Guest Chef Series Charity Dinner on Tuesday, June 21st from 4:00pm to 10:00pm featuring Hardena’s Chef and Co-Owner Diana Widjojo. This Philly Gay Pride Month edition of Stina’s monthly series will benefit the Attic Youth Center, with 20% of sales donated to this local organization dedicated to serving LGBTQ+ youth and allies.

After nearly a year of sold-out events, Stina is honored to open its kitchen to Chef Widjojo, who will work with Stina’s owner Chef Bobby Saritsoglou on a delicious multi course, prix fixe menu. Reservations are available on Resy with courses starting at $75 per person. Stina is located at 1705 Snyder Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145 in South Philadelphia. To reserve your table, please visit resy.com/cities/pha/stina-pizzeria. More information is available online at www.StinaPizzeria.com.

After meeting Chef Widjojo at an event honoring Indonesian culture, Chef Bobby Saritsoglou felt Hardena was the best fit for the Guest Chef partnership. “Diana’s story which includes her sister and mother is inspirational and we are so happy we share the similar interests in the community and celebrate the people that make up this neighborhood,” said Saritsoglou. “We chose Diana and Hardena specifically for this month because it’s an LGBTQ + owned business for Philly Gay Pride Month. We are so excited to host Diana Widjojo this June!”

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Widjojo spoke of her excitement for this collaboration with Stina BYO, saying “I love that the Philadelphia restaurant industry is such a tight knit community and that we can get the chance to hone our skills & learn new ones in each other’s kitchen. This collab will be taking place during Pride month which is my favorite month of the year because as the ‘B’ in LGBT I have a lot to be happy about celebrating through food and being my authentic self.”

Diane Widjojo is the Chef and Co-Owner at Hardena, where she operates, cooks and manages the restaurant after taking over the restaurant with her sister five years ago. Widjojo also oversees Hardena’s social media content, collaborations, networking, and community events. Her goals are to enrich the community by providing a lesser known cuisine through collaborations and charity work.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Attic Youth Center. The Attic Youth Center in Philadelphia is the area’s only organization exclusively dedicated to LGBTQ youth and has served over 20,000 individuals in nearly 30 years of existence.  Their mission is to create opportunities for youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe, supportive community and to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society. The Attic provides a wide-range of life-saving programs and services designed to provide youth with the support and skills needed to transition into independent adulthood.

RESTAURANT WITH A SOCIAL MISSION

In addition to creating fresh delicious Mediterranean fare, Stina’s mission is to highlight, support and donate to a different organization each month, who are making an impact in people’s lives. Each month at least 1% of proceeds are donated to a cause of the month, and now with the new Guest Chef Series, Stina will also donate 20% of a day’s sales to a different charity every month. To date they’ve been able to give away $10,000+ to 14 local organizations.

“We created Stina to express love for food, our culture, our community and each other…celebrate with us,” said Chef Saritsoglou. “We are so happy to be able to do what we love, give back and help make our community a better place. We can’t express how grateful we are!”

Since opening their doors, Stina has donated to the following organizations: SEAMAAC, Juntos, Women In Transition, Stephen Girard Elementary, Puentes De Salud, Philadelphia Bail Fund, West Passyunk Neighbors Association, Project Home, Books Through Bars, Unity In the Community, Punks With Lunch, Homies Helping Homies, Attic Youth Center, Lil Filmmakers and Empowering Cuts.
