Dixie-Cup Séance
New theatre troupe Sobrini Social is thrilled to announce their very first show at Philly Fringe this fall, ‘Dixie-Cup Séance,’ a one-hour one-act written/directed by Joe Madsen and produced by Casey Hare. Filled with cyber scams, daddy issues, and a pilled-up psychic, “Dixie-Cup Séance” is the story of a grieving daughter contacting her dead father so she can scam him out of all the funds in his offshore bank account. What does she have on him? Does the psychic get a cut?? And who uses dixie cups to contact the dead???
Sobrini Social comprises writer/director Joe Madsen and producer Casey Hare, the lifelong cousins behind ‘Dixie Cup Séance.’ Joe brings a rich background in writing, theater, and production, from early days at his alma mater Georgetown University, to staging original work in Dublin Ireland, and to writing and directing for the 2022 Fringe Festival as well as Philly Drag Mafia’s ‘Big Gay Cabaret’ in 2023. Casey is a passionate supporter of the arts, has been a dedicated patron of Fringe Arts and numerous local Philadelphia productions, and is producing her first show in this year’s festival.
Together, they’re excited to present this heartfelt and humorous play that delves into a daughter’s quest for answers after her father’s passing. Starring Shelby Hightower, Chris Smith, and Dean Galiffa, this charming one-act isn’t just a play; it’s a journey of love, loss, and the unanswered questions that connect us all.
