Balena Canto and Love City Brewing present their next queer twist on a classic holiday! his October for HALLOWQUEER FEST!
Halloween (or Gay Christmas as it’s sometimes colloquially know) is an important holiday in the queer community. For many of us growing up in the closet, it was the only time we could truly express our gender under the guise of a single magical holiday.
Halloween also holds great importance and reverence for those who celebrate it for spiritual and/or religious reasons. It’s the time when the veil between the living and the dead is at it’s thinnest, a time to celebrate and feel connected to those who came before.
And heck, many of us just like creepy, spooky, scary, macabre stuff! Whatever your reason to celebrate, we hope you’ll join us for a holiday where you can TRULY be whoever or whatever you want to be!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
An all-day line up of drinks, food, and entertainment including:
– A singer’s concert of all local queer artists serenading you with spooky and etherial tunes to send shivers down your spine and get you in a festive mood!
– A Drag & Burlesque show Extravaganza with a cast of Philly’s most exciting night life monsters, spirits, goblins, ghouls, demons….uh I mean entertainers…
– Candy Corn Eating Contest (covid safe)
– Waterless Apple Bobbing Contest (covid safe)
– Costume/Runway contest where you can strut your stuff showing off your most creative Halloween lewks! Winner gets a prize basket of swag provided by Love City!
– Local LGBTQIA + artisans and vendors selling all sorts of macabre and seasonal wares in Love City’s Beer Garden !
– Raffles provided by Love City (beer basket) and from Balena Canto’s personal collection of new and nearly new apparel and accessories!
– Beer and drinks crafted by our incredible hosts at Love City Brewing including specials on Love Fest Oktoberfest and Monstro Pumpkin Ale (see pics below)
– Viva Food Truck

12:00 – 1:00 Taproom open, let the drinks flow!
1:00 – 3:00 Singers Concert
3:00 – 3:30 GAMES!
3:30 – 4:00 Intermission
4:00 – 6:30 Drag & Burlesque Extravaganza + Costume Runway judged by the cast!
6:30 – 7:00 : Raffles, Dancing, Wrap up!

TICKETS*:
$15-30 (sliding scale**) Pre-sale ends on 7/4 @ 11 am! Tickets will be available at the door (cash/venmo/cashapp) bearing availability.
$40 VIP (10 spots total) Front row (and only guaranteed) seating plus one raffle ticket!
*Ticket price includes admission to the event and all entertainment/contests. FOOD AND DRINK SOLD SEPARATELY .
*Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited. Anyone seen with outside alcohol inside the venue will be immediately asked to leave with no refund.
*Performances at this event may contain adult themes and subjects. Parents must accompany minors/bring at your own discretion.
**The sliding scale format allows those who are able to afford the full ticket price to offset the cost for those who cannot. If you’re able to pay the full $30, please do! If the $15, $20, or $25 ticket prices are more in your budget, choose one of those options!
