Polari: A Queer Agenda
Polari is the language queer people used throughout the last few decades to communicate, especially while “breeders” were around.
It’s no big secret that the gayborhood has been progressively getting less queer-friendly for years. Clubs that were once protected as our safe spaces are being commercialized with questionable music and disrespectful people. The gayborhood has, to a degree, become a novelty for drunk straight people to co-opt, especially “after hours” and the Philly LGBTQ community has been looking for places to reasonably just exist, in peace. No drunk bachelorettes, no singular $20 cocktails.
After a long year of quarantining and the long-overdue disbandment of Philly Pride Presents, Philly queers need a space to dance, let loose, and celebrate being themselves.
Do check your ego at the door.
There will be absolutely NO homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, misogyny, body shaming, fatphobia, profiling, or intolerance at this party of any kind or you will be told to leave and NOT invited back again.
$5 cover before 12am, $10 after
10PM – 2AM
And remember, we are guests in this space. Let’s respect this space and leave it better than how we found it so that we are invited back.
