PrEP Rally

As part of Philadelphia FIGHT’s PrEP week, Mazzoni Center is excited to announce an event at our Washington West Project facility. Join us on Monday, September 20 for the first PrEP rally, where you can learn more and get started on PrEP.

What is PrEP?

“PrEP” stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. It is the newest and most promising biomedical HIV prevention intervention to date. For people who are HIV-negative and at risk for HIV infection, PrEP is a way to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. If you take PrEP and are exposed to HIV, these medicines can work to keep the virus from taking hold in your body.

Why a PrEP Rally?

As part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative that aims to end the HIV epidemic in the United States by 2030. Mazzoni Center is a part of this initiative and as part our of goal to reduce the number of new HIV infections, we are working on new ways to reach out to those that are in our community that needs support in understanding what PrEP is and how PrEP can be a part of their regular routines and flower their risk to HIV. 

What else will be at the Rally?

Also at the rally, you can get tested for HIV for free. We will also have available the COVID vaccine if you still need to be vaccinated, and also flu shots will be available for those who want to receive it for the upcoming flu season.
