This award-winning play follows young Pharus on his journey toward becoming the best choir leader in the history of the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys while he investigates himself and his peers to discover just where he might fit in this world.

“Choir Boy” explores themes of identity, race, sexuality, and the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly in conservative and traditional environments. Pharus, as the lead character, grapples with his identity and how it intersects with his passion for singing in the school’s gospel choir.
