WNBA Pizza Party Watch Party

Watch Party PHL, a monthly women’s sports watch party, will host their fourth event this Tuesday for the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game featuring the New York Liberty vs the Minnesota Lynx.

There will be two Philly-area rivalries happening between these two teams. Minnesota Lynx head coach, Cheryl Reeve is from Washington Township, N.J., played for and later was an assistant coach at La Salle. While New York Liberty guard, Betnijah Laney was born in Philadelphia, grew up in Delaware and played college basketball at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her mother, Yolanda Laney a basketball star in her own right was born and raised in Philly. She played on the University City High team and Cheyney State.

The Watch Party will be at Stir Lounge on the 1700 block of Chancellor Street. This event will be a pizza party watch party with pizza’s donated by Vince’s Pizzeria in Fishtown. Attendees will also have a chance to win a signed Dawn Staley basketball.
