ANNA Crusis Women's Choir
ANNA is thrilled to share the stage w/ Moira Smiley, singer, composer, instrumentalist, world music aficionado and lead vocalist with the Irish super-group, Solas. Moira is well-known and beloved in choral music around the world as a unique composer and arranger - with millions of singers world-wide performing her music. Together, we present a program of song stories about longing for and finding our own space, both personal and communal, informed by Moira’s claim that “We’re all nomads, immigrants or refugees at some time in our lives.” The concert features settings of music from Appalachia and early American folk traditions set with a contemporary flair, gospel ballads, a few show tunes, Cuban love songs and Moira originals, as well as haunting music by community driven composers like Ysaye Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock. This program promises to touch deeply, instill hope and a sense of pride in who we are, and asks what more can we do to help our fellow travelers along in our journeys together.

As a special treat, audiences will have a chance to learn some of the music we’ll be doing in concert, at a workshop prior to Saturday’s performance, or participate in our pre-concert community sing.
