Memorial services for Dennis Clegg, former President of Philadelphia Fins LGBT Aquatics Group and well-respected regional athlete, will be held on January 4, 2014.
Last week, we reported on the tragic death of Clegg. Besides his former leadership role with Fins, Clegg was known for his guidance and management skills as a key organizer for several LGBT masters swimming events in the region and for his work with Team Philadelphia.
The memorial will be held at Philadelphia Firefighters Union Hall, 415 N. 5th Street, starting at 1PM. The family is requesting those who have worked with Clegg at Fins or other organizations to informally share their memories of Clegg at the service.
Additionally, in lieu of flowers, Clegg’s partner and family are requesting that friends make a donation to a charity of their choice.
Clegg died suddenly on December 21 of cardiac arrest during swim practice. Philadelphia Fins, which was formed in 1988 to support LGBT swimmers in the area, is a member of the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics association.
