The 2023-2024 Broadway Season at the Kimmel Center is announced

Ain't Too Proud
Although retired since 2014, I still relish opportunities to teach, write, and share opinions.
Company, Mrs. Doubtfire, Frozen, Funny Girl, and many more musicals, and a spectacle, will come to the Kimmel Cultural Campus for the Broadway 2023-2024 Season.

Twelve productions in all are scheduled to appear at three venues: The Academy of Music; Miller Theater, and The Forrest Theatre. A list of the productions and details for each will be included later in the article. The season begins October 3, 2023, and runs through August 11, 2024.

The Kimmel Center sponsored a gala happy hour event at their lovely Hamilton Garden venue on April 11, from 5 to 7 pm to celebrate the announcement of their 2023-2024 Broadway Season. Press, influencers, subscribers, and celebrities such as playwright, actor, and director James Ijames enjoyed hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, soda, beer, and wine, and snacks as we networked and chatted in the sky. Mamma Mia! had a fabulous Greek-themed spread, while Frozen handed out wine poured down a mini iceberg. Mean Girls had a few savage sweets to mitigate their meanness, for a few examples.

Fran Egler, the center’s own Tony voter and Vice President of Programming and Presentations shared news and stories of the coming season and her busy schedule seeing just about everything on Broadway to plan for future seasons.

In addition to such classic musicals as Wicked, and Frozen, new musicals such as Girl From the North Country with twenty songs by Bob Dylan and set in 1934 Duluth Michigan will be joined by a dance-theatre presentation Message in a Bottle, with music by Sting. In time for Christmas, Cirque Dreams Holidaze will thrill with acrobats, jugglers, and surprises galore.
