Greater Than Hate Coalition Joins Local Resistance Against Moms for Liberty Summit In Philadelphia

The Greater Than Hate Coalition, a partnership of eight leading human rights and equality organizations focused on opposing hate in all forms, penned an op-ed in the Philadelphia Gay News and commissioned a mobile billboard in downtown Philadelphia to add to the on-the-ground protests against Moms for Liberty’s Annual Summit, which was held in Philadelphia over the weekend.

The op-ed, which was signed by Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson and National Women’s Law Center’s President and CEO Fatima Gross Graves, outlined Moms for Liberty’s ties to establishment far-right Republicans and extremist groups like the Proud Boys while dispensing of the notion that they’re an organic, grassroots movement:

“Even more disturbing than Moms for Liberty’s ties to far-right politicians, are its alliances with white nationalist hate groups like Gays Against Groomers, the Christian Family Coalition and Florida Fathers for Freedom. In Florida and elsewhere, these groups have banded together, hosting rallies against LGBTQ+ rights, and spreading hateful and homophobic rhetoric at school board meetings. Just this month, the Southern Poverty Law Center designated Moms for Liberty as an 'extremist group,' a title also reserved for the Westboro Baptist Church, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and the Oath Keepers.”

The full op-ed, which was published on Friday, June 30th, can be read HERE

Greater Than Hate’s mobile billboard featured photos of Moms for Liberty included a QR code for signups to join the coalition and sign a letter to Moms for Liberty leadership telling them that hate has no place in Philadelphia.
