“A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge,” released in 1985, is recognized for its strong queer subtext, distinguishing it within the horror genre. The film features Jesse, a teenage boy, whose confrontations with Freddy Krueger carry evident homoerotic undertones. These elements reflect the societal fears and stigmatization of homosexuality during the 1980s AIDS crisis. Although the portrayal of homosexuality in the film sometimes reinforces negative stereotypes, it has been embraced by some in the LGBTQ community for breaking traditional gender norms in horror films and providing a rare representation during that era
A pop up film series and safe space for LGBTQ folks who enjoy 80s / 90s classic film nostalgia. Bring a date or come single looking for a fellow film geek like yourself! There will be a nostalgic discussion panel, trivia, music, movie snacks and lots of fun!
