Saturday, 11/20/2021 is Trans Day of Remembrance. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), celebrated on November 20th, is a day to memorialize those who have been killed as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and acts to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community. TDoR was founded in 1998 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a trans woman who is a graphic designer, columnist, and activist, to memorialize the murder of Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts. New Hope Celebrates will be having a Trans Speakers Panel to address issues this community faces, a candlelit Walk of Remembrance across the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, and a Celebration of Life reception afterward. Come show your support for those in transition, recognize those who have died, and raise visibility for this cause.
3:30pm – Panel at New Hope Borough Hall
5:00pm – Walk of Remembrance with candlelight vigil from New Hope Borough Hall to the New Hope-Lambertville Free Bridge then to Under the Moon
5:40pm – Celebration of Life at Under the Moon (light food and wine/beer)
