She has been working with Qfest since 2003 and has a true love of film. How better to give PhillyGayCalendar a rundown of the best films for the ladies for the 2010 QFest Film Festival

ELENA UNDONE: There is a reason why we chose this film also kick off an exciting film festival this year and I guarentee it will sweep you off your feet—it did to me! From veteran director Nicole Conn (Little Man, Claire of the Moon), Elena Undone is a beautiful, powerful and incrediby romantic narrative that is an enchanting homage to the power of love and the belief in soul mates. The onscreen chemestry between the two leads Necar Zadegan (TV’s “24”) and (Traci Dinwiddie, TV’s “Supernatural”) is truly mezmorizing.
A MARINE STORY: If you are looking for something a little different yet a well-made film that focuses on a very poignant topic of gays in the military then look no further than A Marine Story. Sexy Dreya Weber (The Gymnast) is back in this powerful and inspirational narrative that is based on true-life stories. Weber is an ex-Marine who abruptly returns home from Afghanistan. She wants is to be left alone, but the local police ask her to help train a sassy young adult (out actress Paris Pickard) for boot camp. A trusting bond between the two is formed until the former drill sergeant’s past catches up with her.
THE SECRET DIARIES OF MISS ANNE LISTER: In this glorious and gorgeous period piece, the “original” lesbian Anne Lister carouses around town becoming romantically involved in many. Between jealous best friends, capricious lovers, menacing coalminers and family, this feisty female brilliantly juggles them all! And don’t be turned off that this film is set in early 1800’s because this lush film will have you captivated from beginning to end!
BLOOMINGTON: Like Philadelphia Qfest favorite Loving Annabelle did a couple of years ago, Bloomington is a firecracker feature film that will grab your attention from the beginning and will not let you go. Foxy psychology professor —known “lady killer” on campus—seduces the new kid on campus and former child actress. But the doe-eyed student isn’t so innocent either and when their lustful relationship leaks out; all hell breaks loose in a way that no one can predict! I like this film because it reminds me of so many classic lesbian films like The Children’s Hour and Mäedchen in Uniform.
LE TIGRE ON TOUR: If you are like me, your life is a little lonely without a new album from the talented queer punk band Le Tigre since 2004. But lucky for all of us, this riotous documentary fuses concert footage and behind-the-scenes antics of these riot grrls from their last known tour when they were at the height of their career. Find out in their own words what Kathleen Hanna, Johanna Fateman and JD Samson have to say.
