Latest Salvos in Madonna/Gaga Feud: Niceness, Five-Dollar Words

Admit it: You don’t want Madonna and Lady Gaga to get along. It’s so much more fun when celebrities feud, isn’t it? Then you and your friends can all pick sides and get into super drawn-out comment wars on your Facebook walls about who stole from who and who’s the real diva, so on and so forth.

So what’s up with this latest Gaga-related statement from Madge? On the couch with our favorite poof across the pond, Graham Norton, Madonna drips with insincere sincerity as she describes one of Gaga’s early NYC gigs (Oh, she so would have been into Gaga before it was cool. Hipster Madonna!). She’s almost convincing, until the very end when Madge just barely manages to bring herself to say, of Lady Gaga, “I do think she’s very talented.” Look close and you can see every single cell in Madonna’s body spasm in rebellion as she utters those words. It’s a good thing she didn’t try to add another compliment

But don’t take my word for it. See for yourself. Do you think I’m reading too much into Madonna’s body language?

In a different interview with ABC News, Madonna is both more and less forthright. On Gaga’s “Express Yourself” copycat controversy, Madonna says that it feels “reductive.” Asked to elaborate, Madge says, “Look it up,” and takes a deliberate sip from her coffee cup. Shade!

Whatever it is she really thinks about Lady Gaga, Madonna had herself a nice weekend. Her song “Masterpiece” just snagged her a Golden Globe for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. So say what you will — She’s still got it!
