It's been quite some time since Pissi Myles took to the Gayborhood stage, but she hasn't hung up her heel; she's off doing her own thing and spent a few minutes giving us the inside scoop on "What Makes Me Pissi," AND her upcoming show with the legendary, Lady Bunny!
Since expanding your performance scope outside of the gayborhood, what the fu*k have you been up to?
I’ve been doing so much! I’ve started a show called “Boys Will Be Girls” in Astoria at a very cool venue, Albatross Bar. I’ve got a new show coming to Asbury Park, NJ at my home bar, Georgie’s, which is a game night of Cards Against Humanity with pop-up performances by myself and the amazing, Christy Girlington. And, of course, I’ve put a lot of energy into making my show at L’Etage here in Philly, “What Makes Me Pissi,” an event that gets bigger and more exciting every month. I’ve made so many great friends in NYC like Judy Darling, Monet Xchange, Miz Cracker, and Bob the Drag Queen. I just want to keep bringing them in so people can see how amazing they are. And now I’m so excited to be having the amazing, Lady Bunny in the show for the one year anniversary on January 9th! (Don’t forget to get your tickets at bit.ly/PissiBunny!)
For people who haven't had a chance to see your monthly show, tell us what is "What Makes Me Pissi?"
"What Makes Me Pissi," is a comedy hour. To me, it’s like the twisted, drag version of The Carol Burnett Show – there’s standup comedy, live singing, audience interaction, and always laughs. I like to remind people that there’s something inherently funny about being a drag queen. Queens do a lot to make statements about gender roles, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc., but at the end of the day, I think of myself as an entertainer, and I want people to remember that it’s all in good fun. What Makes Me Pissi definitely reflects that, and it allows people to laugh at themselves… And me… Mostly at me.
You seem pretty connected to a large variety of well known queens, who's been the best bitch to work with?
It’s been so amazing getting to know all of the people I’ve met! I’ve had some really amazing opportunities, and I’ve also forged a path that has allowed me to meet some really awesome people. I LOVED working with Sherry Vine, she is a doll, and a hoot. I drive most of my guests to Philly from NYC, and the 2 hour drive with Sherry was one of the best parts of the experience. That’s the way it is with most of my guests, though. I also really, really loved getting to meet Peaches Christ, and doing a photoshoot with her and David Ayllon. Talk about a nice person, and so smart.
If you had to give up lipstick or cock for the next two years, which are you saying buh-bye to?
Honestly, would anyone say cock? WOULD ANYONE SAY COCK??? I’d draw my lips on with my boyfriend’s dick, if I could.
Catch her show with Lady Bunny next week! More info.
