IBA (Great Philadelphia LGBT Chamber of Commerce) is investing in the future of the LGBT community, not only with their focus on LGBT business development but putting money where their mouth is and giving out the IBA/DVLF LGBTQ Business Scholarship Award and the PNC Bank LGBT Business Award.
Are you a LGBTQ student or know one that might need more money for school? The IBA/DLVF LGBTQ Business Scholarship is a $2,500.00 scholarship to benefit a local, undergraduate student currently enrolled in a business related discipline within the Philadelphia region. The scholarship is awarded for educational expenses to include tuition, books and supplies and/or room and board. To be eligible, an applicant must be (1) a self-identified LGBTQ student or allied student supportive of the LGBTQ community; (2) currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the Greater Philadelphia area; (3) working toward an undergraduate degree in a business program/major and (4) able to demonstrate leadership roles. Applications are NOW open and are due by Friday, March 31st.
Are you an LGBTQ Business looking to grow? The PNC Bank LGBT Business Award is a $10,000.00 award to a IBA member-owned business that demonstrates a well-defined plan for growth, including innovation, sustainability and ongoing contribution to the community. Nominees must be: (1) an IBA member business (as of submission deadline); (2) a registered business headquartered within the Greater Philadelphia area; (3) in business before January 1, 2016; (4) a privately held company; (5) in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; (6) a legal resident of the United States and (6) at least 18 years old. Applications, along with two letters of recommendation and a Mini Plan, must be received by 5 PM, Friday, April 14, 2017. Winners will be announced at IBA’s 10th Anniversary Celebration at the Down Town Club on the evening of Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
