Philadelphia’s first pride event of 2017 starts now.  Philadelphia Black Pride is from April 27 – May 1, 2017.  The theme of this year’s Pride “A Movement” and this is the 18th annual event for this celebration our city. 

According to the website, this is the largest mobilization of LGBTQ people of color in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There are many events and the entire program can be found at the website at phillyblackpride.org. On Friday, Philadelphia Black Pride will be hosting a number of progressive conversations at the African American Museum of Philadelphia.

Friday night (April 28) is the Sexy Men Mega Party in West Philly.  Saturday brings an afternoon block party to Dilworth Park (3 PM – 8 PM), which is right after the Philly People's Climate March also happening at city hall (1 PM). (Our city have no shortage of movement activities right now.) On Sunday there is an Annual Family Day at Lemon Hill Park (10 AM – 6 PM). 

The mission of Philadelphia Black Pride is: “Our mission is to transform the living and social environments of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of color. We aim to create multicultural opportunities that educate, inspire, improve and celebrate the experiences of LGBTQ individuals through programs, policy, advocacy, partnerships and relationship building.”
