The Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC) is thrilled to present “GayIcon: The Music of Elton John” at the Suzanne Roberts Theater in Philadelphia, PA on May 19th and May 20th, 2023. Directed by Joseph J. Buches, the Artistic Director and Conductor of PGMC, this concert will feature some of Sir Elton John’s greatest hits from pop to Broadway and beyond, as well as solo performances and featured dancers in many of the selections. BROLO, PGMC’s signature group, will also be showcased.
PGMC, now in its 41st concert year, has chosen Sir Elton John to commemorate their final concert of the season. Sir Elton John is not only a legendary artist, but he has also been an LGBTQ+ advocate for decades, using his voice to raise awareness and support for the community. His most profound success has been the creation of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which has raised over $600 million to help fund and support HIV-related programs. He truly embodies the term “Gay Icon.”
PGMC is also encouraging audience members to come dressed in their best Elton John costumes. Official PGMC judges will choose their favorite costume during intermission. The top three finalists at each concert will be invited to come up on stage and then a winner will be chosen. The winner will receive a pair of free concert tickets for our 2023/24 concert season.
