Born in the mid-90s as a grassroots fundraiser blending traditional bingo with drag performance, GayBINGO! quickly became one of Philadelphia’s most beloved LGBTQ+ traditions. Over the years, it has raised millions of dollars to support individuals living with HIV, while also serving as a joyous, inclusive gathering for the queer community and its allies. It is an event where glitter meets purpose — and every card called is a step toward health, dignity, and community care.
The Magic of the BVDs
At the heart of the show are the legendary Bingo Verifying Divas (BVDs) — larger-than-life performers who don’t just check your bingo cards, they *own* the stage. Each month, the BVDs perform themed musical numbers that transform the bingo hall into a full-scale drag cabaret.

A Pride-month finale bursting with color and surprise performances.
In between, audiences can look forward to superhero adventures, disco fever, sitcom nostalgia, and a massive birthday party celebrating the very year this tradition began — 1996.
More Than Just a Party
What sets GayBINGO! apart from other drag or bingo events is its unwavering commitment to advocacy. Every ticket sold, every laugh shared, and every dance number performed supports the mission of Action Wellness — one of Philadelphia’s largest AIDS service organizations. The nonprofit provides medical case management, housing assistance, perinatal care, prison outreach programs, and emotional support for thousands of individuals each year.
