The Igloo

Business

The Igloo is Philadelphia’s home for all frozen desserts, proudly created in 2012 and still Philly-based and owned. Co-founded by Bill Chlebowski and Isaac “Zac” Parker, with Caroline Smith joining the ownership team a year later, The Igloo is an LGBTQ-owned neighborhood institution at 23rd and South Street (Grays Ferry Ave).

The shop offers 10 different soft-serve varieties including custard, frozen yogurt, ice cream, sorbet, vegan ice cream, and gelato — most homemade daily on-site. They also serve hard-scoop ice cream (with vegan options), imported Yogorino European frozen yogurt, water ice, milkshakes, acai bowls, ice cream sandwiches, cookies, and free pup cups for dogs.

The plaza outside the shop is a community hub with live music nights on Thursdays and movie screenings on Fridays during warmer months. The Igloo sponsors neighborhood sports teams, schools, and local organizations. Open daily 12 PM – 11 PM.
