50 Years of Lesbian Art: Sinister Wisdom’s Creative Legacies Exhibit

“50 Years of Lesbian Art: Sinister Wisdom’s Creative Legacies” exhibit brings together visual artists who have contributed to Sinister Wisdom, A Multicultural Lesbian Literary & Art Journal, across its 50-year history.

Participating artists include KT Abadir-Mullally, Laura Aguilar, Cass Arrington, Ayirani Balachanthiran, Bell Beecher Pitkin, Chrystos, Tee Corinne, Pico del Hierro-Villa, Morgan Gwenwald, Drewe Haddox, Happy Hyder, JEB, Kimani Johnson, Verlena Johnson, Lenn Keller, Şafak Şule Kemancı, Ellen Oppenheimer, Mariam Pessah, Sudie Rakusin, Emerald Repard-Denniston, Juno Rosenhaus, Mi Ok Song, Mandy Fitzhugh Wallace, Judith Waterman, jean WEISINGER, and Rainbow Williams.

This exhibition honors Sinister Wisdom’s legacy by showcasing works spanning the journal’s five decades of publication through a multigenerational lens. It brings together artists from the early years of Sinister Wisdom with radical voices of the 1990s and contemporary artists who continue to expand the horizons of lesbian art today. It seeks to inspire future generations and affirm the continuing presence, and necessity, of lesbian art in our collective cultural landscape.
