Immerse Yourself in Black Gay Literature

Join us for a special evening at Craft and Consciousness Raising, where we will be diving into the profound and politically charged discussions stemming from In the Life: A Black Gay Anthology, curated by the visionary Joseph Beam. This anthology is not just a collection of essays; it’s a beacon illuminating the experiences of Black gay life, identity, and community, guiding us toward a better understanding of liberation.

Creating and Reflecting Together

Not only will we engage in thoughtful dialogue, but we’ll also engage our hands and minds as this monthly gathering uniquely combines reading, mindfulness, and art-making. You don’t have to read anything ahead—our selected essays will be read aloud for everyone to enjoy. Bring along a project you’re working on, or use our provided crafting materials. Create while you contemplate, and find inspiration in the words of talented Black gay writers.

A Welcoming and Inclusive Space

This event promises to be a warm and inclusive space where all are welcome, regardless of age! It’s a chance to connect with community members, explore essential narratives in queer literature, and support local spaces like Giovanni’s Room, a beloved bookstore and cultural hub for the LGBT+ community. Don’t miss this opportunity to enrich your mind and spirit. See you there!
