CURFEW hosts an official Philadelphia Black Pride event featuring sonic alchemist Juliana Huxtable (NYC) bringing together the city’s Black queer community and our allies for a night rooted in sound, sweat, and liberation on the dance floor. This isn’t just a party — it’s a gathering, a ritual, a celebration of Black queer brilliance in all its forms.
Juliana Huxtable (NYC) is a DJ and musician singular in her approach. Using the structures of music as mediums in her multi-media universe, Huxtable moves fluidly between sound, art, and poetry. Where her visual practice navigates the complexification of desire in a life increasingly mediated by technology, her music utilizes the sounds of technology itself to construct parallel realities meant to be inhabited and embodied in rhythm and harmonic tableaux.
Her sets skillfully deploy sampling and re-blogging as DJ strategies, ecstatically mixing an array of influences that frolic at the boundary of genre, intuition, and experimentation. At once an assertion of freedom and an ode to the evolutionary structure of electronic music subcultures, her performances aspire to the sublime — what can often only be described as witchcraft behind the decks; a séance from the stage.
Joining her are Philly local favorites DJ Love and One Eleven, bringing the heat from the city’s own underground. The night will be hosted by the CURFEW crew — Icon Ebony-Fierce, kraftwitch, and Jimmy — guiding the energy and holding the space as only they can.
TICKETS are rolling out in limited quantities and will move fast. Early Bird tickets are $15, Release 2 tickets are $20, and tickets will be $25 day-of or at the door. Secure yours early — once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Slay. Serve. Repeat. See you on the dance floor.
