Turn Up For Trans Youth!
Join us for our annual Artemis Pack Benefit Party! This year we are thrilled to offer an abundance of queer magic and invite guests to embark on a gender journey just for YOU. At Artemis Pack, we provide a queer sanctuary where magical youth in Philly feel supported in their self-discovery and magical development. On Saturday, April 26th, we invite you to have a little taste of the magic we conjure in Artemis Pack with an evening full of fun, mystery, and community! As our community faces a tremendous amount of attack, our intention for this evening is to share in our queer/trans JOY and remember our agency as we collectively work our magic. This event is open to families, friends, and anyone who respectfully gets down with queer/trans liberation.
We are stoked to host live performances by Maddie Robinson (7pm), My Gay Banjo (8pm), and a DJ set by Ross of Love (9pm). The evening will be hosted by our fearless leader, Emma Fox, along with some of the Artemis kids (TBD!), and we’ll guide you in some of our favorite songs, rituals, and magical practices in between sets. Bring some clothes to swap, and get yourself glamourized by our beloved Tia Brown and Moonrose Vintage! Wigs, glitter, and dress up options will likely be provided, but coming dressed as your TRUEST self is highly encouraged. Our kids have been compiling zines, coloring books, handmade art, and parents are donating amazing services for a silent auction, and we’ll have our usual merch (books, pins, stickers, flower essences, potions) for sale. We’re also whipping up some magical elixirs (both alcoholic and NA) with a drink ticket included in the price of your ticket!
Turn Up For Trans Youth is our way of sharing the queer futures we conjure in Artemis Pack with the wider Philly community! Our program is super niche and serves such an important role in the work of activating queer futures. By providing a space where queer and trans youth build community, learn to see themselves in Nature, and activate their strongest magic powers, Artemis Pack inspires the next generation of queers to build worlds with more justice and joy for all. Though our organization is small and scrappy, we are steadily growing and now serve over 50 families in Philly! Over one third of the families we serve rely on scholarship in order to participate in our program, and bringing folks together to activate queer joy and pool together our resources is our favorite way of replenishing our scholarship fund. This act of community care ensures that our program remains accessible to any child who feels called to join the kid witch revolution.
