What if the true story behind Beauty and the Beast was told by Queen Catherine de’ Medici herself?

YOUR QUEEN PRESENTS: PETRUS is a darkly comic solo show blending drag, clown, magical realism, and handmade theatricality to reimagine the extraordinary story of Petrus Gonsalvus, a 16th-century man from the Canary Islands with hypertrichosis who became a spectacle in Renaissance Europe.

Created and performed by Tenerife-born, NYC-based theatermaker Edu Díaz, who takes the stage as Queen Catherine de’ Medici, the show arrives at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival following a sold-out New York City performance at the United Palace.
