Mint Voyagers: Kyle Flood

Executive Director of PhillyGayCalendar

Kyle:  I am a City Planner specializing in the development of affordable housing.  Originally from a small town in Central Vermont, I am 30 years old, and have lived in Philadelphia for 9 years, having moved to the city to attend the University of Pennsylvania.  I have  been an active member of Liberty City Democratic Club as well as the American Planning Association.

PGC: What group were you in in the program and who is your mentor?

Kyle:   In the Distinctive Officers Program, I worked with the group “Source 1315” (named for the address of the William Way Community Center), made up of a group of extremely talented and creative people who I would not have otherwise had the honor to collaborate with.  Under the mentorship of Harvey Hurdle, our group developed a recommended strategy aimed at attracting new types of programs to the William Way Center.

PGC:  What is your next step?  What will you be doing with what you learned and your involvement in the program?

Kyle:  As for my commitment to the Community, I will be working with Foyer of Philadelphia, an organization whose mission is to facilitate LGBTQ young adults transition from foster care and/or homelessness to self-sufficiency and independence.  For more information  www.foyerofphiladelphia.org .

We are all proud of Kyle for his committment to activism in the community and are looking forward to seeing what he does with his involvement.
