What do you do when you have nothing but a bottle of alcohol and a nice outfit for the year’s most hallmarked holiday? Go to ICandy’s stop light party of course! With a red, yellow, green themed out dance floor, it was looking to be a promising night for singles. Unfortunately though, I didn’t get there till almost midnight and I quickly realized I wasn’t missing much. It was definitely looking to be a slow night at the clubs. I would have guessed it wouldn’t have been to hopping since it was a night meant to be spent with your “significant other.”
There was definitely a lot of green, aka singles looking for a hookup, around the dance floor. But it wouldn’t be the gay community if we acted so conservative! Most of the staff was covered in green as well, which I thought was interesting because I will certainly admit that they have quite an attractive group of guys running around selling shots and dancing. There was a nice sprinkle of red among the club goers as well so it was nice to see the couples falling in love under the neon strobe lights.
The highlight was of course that while there were only about 20 people on the dance floor early in the night, people still managed to try and fight and get kicked out. He was wearing green so maybe he was just bitter this year. Who knows, overall it was a nice experience and a great idea if you were looking to get out of the house for a night when you were by yourself. I think the only deterrent from it being a huge success would have to be that it was on a Tuesday night. Had it been later in the week or over a weekend, I know more people would have turned out for it. I would give it another shot next year ICandy, you guys are definitely giving the Gay community reasons to go out in Philly, without breaking the bank like some other clubs I know.
