The time has come for Philly’s restaurant week to show newbies, cheap people, fun adventurous people, and out-of-towners what they’ve been missing at amazing restaurants. M Restaurant is where I went for restaurant week, and there is still time for you to make a Rez. I’ve championed M from the jump, because I really believe in this place. It’s gorgeous, their food is amazing, I love the staff, their drinks are crazy good……yeah you get the picture.
First Course: Celery Root Soup, black garlic, chive, pickled red onion.
Review: A+ Duh, bitch. A table-side soup pour is all that it takes to make me flip out. The bowl was lined with squid ink, and it was all so cohesive and amazing. The red onion really brought a fun collection of flavors all together.
Second Course: Monkfish, acorn squash risotto, pickled jalapeños, enoki mushrooms.
Review: A+ First, google MONKFISH. Ugliest thing in the world. That aside, they’re ugly and delicious. The risotto was delicious and mixed with monkfish on my fork, I swooned….I found my light…I swooned again. I fell in love.
Third Course: Braised Short Ribs, Guinness, spinach purée, cippolinni onion, braising jus
Review: A+ I really hate most onions, but Cippollini done right, can really change things. And this was one of those situations. Braised Ribs are a comfortable old friend, and the Guinness was a perfect combo.
Dessert: Foie Gras Ice Cream Chocolates. AMAZING. I started eating these like I was detonating a bomb, being afraid of what Foie Gras ice cream tastes like. But, my guest and I devoured these, as fast as we realized they were delish!
