Bob & Barbara’s has been a South Street dive bar since 1969, now run by siblings Katrina and Oskar Duva. It’s the birthplace of the Citywide Special, a can of PBR and a shot of Jim Beam for $5, and the walls hold what might be the largest PBR memorabilia collection in the country. The bar is cash-only and open daily from 4pm to 2am. Every Thursday night brings the city’s longest-running drag show, hosted by Miss Lisa Lisa and her rotating cast of queens, and the mixed gay/straight crowd has landed Bob & Barbara’s on more than one “Best LGBTQ+ Bars in Philly” list. Live music fills the room most weekends, from the Crowd Pleasers’ Friday and Saturday jazz and funk sets to a country night twice a month, and next door, sister spot The Window serves late-night sandwiches through a walk-up window.
