Founded in 2007, the Spruce Foundation is an all-volunteer, next-generation-led foundation that funds Philadelphia’s youth-serving nonprofits. Each year Spruce awards four $5,000 grants, one apiece across its Education, Arts, Health & Wellness, and LGBTQ program areas, to grassroots organizations supporting Philly youth, reviewing roughly 15-20 grant applications annually through a volunteer committee.
Beyond grantmaking, Spruce connects young professionals (roughly ages 22-35) with youth nonprofits for board service, pro-bono consulting, and hands-on volunteering, aiming to build the next generation of local philanthropists alongside the grants themselves.
