Voyeur Nightclub

Business

Voyeur is the Gayborhood’s after-hours club, tucked onto Saint James Street, a narrow block between 13th and Camac that most people walk past without noticing. It is the room that fills up as everything else in the neighborhood is closing, and for a large part of Philadelphia’s LGBT+ nightlife it has been the default late destination for well over a decade.

The space. Three floors hold five distinct areas. The main dance floor is built for house and EDM with a full light and effects rig and an illuminated dance floor. A mezzanine level overlooks it, with a light wall and bottle service seating. The Parlor is the lower-key room, leaning hip-hop with a more relaxed feel. The scale of the building means the music policy can differ floor to floor rather than the whole room committing to one sound.

How it works. Voyeur operates as a private club under Mayfield Social Club membership rather than as a standard bar. Visitors can be assessed for entry rather than needing to arrive as an existing member, but it is worth knowing the structure before you turn up. Entry is 21+ with government photo ID, and there is normally a cover.

What to expect. The crowd is LGBT+ and allies, and it skews late and high-energy. Because Voyeur runs past the point where other rooms stop, it collects people from across the neighborhood rather than drawing its own separate crowd. The late-night hot dog is a genuine tradition. Reviews are mixed on service and door experience, so go with a plan and keep track of your belongings.

Getting there. Saint James Street between South 13th and Camac. Woody’s is around the corner, and 254, U Bar and Tavern on Camac are all a short walk.
