Tired of the bar scene? Ready to see what your friends look like in the day light? Well, you've got plans for Saturday!
For the last few months, an un-offical get together has popped up in Rittenhouse Square, one Saturday a month. A true crockpot group of gays lay out on blankets and bring food/ drink (in non-descript drinkware) to a large grassy patch in the park to do nothing but hang out and enjoy the weather and each other's company. I was able to make the second gathering, and quickly fell in love with the variety of people I got to meet. There weren't any cliques, no one was on Grindr (I checked), nobody was sloppy, and people maintained eye contact while engaging in stimulating conversation or playing games. Don't get me wrong, I love a good night sipping drinks (in great succession) and dancing my ass off with a bunch of sweaty strangers, but sometimes it's nice to see the sunlight and the people I'm doing those things with!
