Danny’s Midnight Confessions has been a fixture on South 13th Street for more than 40 years and is the Gayborhood’s own sex shop. It has outlasted nearly every other independent retailer on the block, and at this point it is as much a neighborhood landmark as a store.
What they carry. Toys, fetish and leather gear, underwear and clothing, DVDs and magazines, across a compact storefront that packs a lot into a small footprint. The range is broad rather than boutique, and the window displays are a running part of 13th Street’s character.
What to expect. Staff are knowledgeable and sex-positive, and reviews consistently single out how much easier that makes browsing for people who find these shops intimidating. It is a working retail store rather than a novelty stop, and it is used by locals, not just visitors.
Getting there. South 13th Street in the heart of the Gayborhood, on the same short strip as Woody’s and steps from U Bar and Franky Bradley’s. Closest transit is 13th Street on the Market-Frankford Line.
Is Danny’s still open? Yes. It has traded continuously on 13th Street for over four decades, closing only briefly during the pandemic.
