It is said that the peaks of sunken Atlantean mountains today form the Canary Islands, the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde. At the bottom of the sea, glorious palaces and temples are still waiting to be discovered.
In thirty two days, I’m getting gay married to my favorite person in the world. I get to stand up in front of our friends and family and make this big public commitment to the person I love most in the world. Psyched is an understatement.
Admittedly there are parts of the world that are more reputedly gay-friendly than Spain and certainly Madrid and Barcelona have the Spanish market cornered on gay bars, clubs and lifestyle but very few areas are as special as the south of Spain.
This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend an old friend’s show: Oz! Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Taking place at Stewart Middle School, this one night only event was produced, casted and stared by drag queen Aida Snatchwell.
Each has a definite ‘gay presence’ but only a handful of genuine gay clubs, bars, and restaurants.
Generally one thinks of Switzerland in terms of mountains, cheese and chocolate. While this is true, one could also think of it in terms of Gay women and men. German, French and Italian yet all Swiss!

I would like to focus less on your actions and more on the things that it seems you are not doing – or perhaps unable to fathom.
Last Saturday I was on a panel with a bunch of grown-up smarties about archiving, affect, and activism at Giovanni’s Room. I spoke for a little while about zines and my involvement in the Philadelphia zine community. The event went well, and I learned a lot from the other presenters.
Cologne Pride is one of the largest gay and lesbian events in Germany as well as all of Europe. In recent years there have been over one million participants in Cologne with even more expected this July.
